The Doomsday Museum

An interactive guide to 6 of the world’s most pressing modern issues.

Global Warming

Global warming — something known and recognized for decades — is a bigger problem now than ever before. With the heating of our planet causing a slew of natural disasters, as well as changing our economies in ways we’ve never seen before, it’s evident that this dire issue must be addressed soon. Unfortunately, though, the amount of time we have to do so is running out.

Plastic Pollution

Plastic today is low-cost, lightweight, and doesn’t break down easily — the perfect combination for polluting the oceans. Animals ingest plastic every day and subsequently choke or get poisoned by its effects. Plastics seep into our food and bodies, slowly harming and killing us from within. Until we find a solution, this cycle will only grow worse.

Food Insecurity

Food insecurity kills 9 million people per year, and yet 1/3 of all food produced is wasted. Food insecurity as a problem is often ignored in developed countries, seen as an issue that “doesn’t concern me.” However, with over 2.4 billion going hungry, it’s clear humanity won’t advance until we put a stop to this. Food insecurity is preventable if we take the right steps.

Refugee Crisis

The Russia-Ukraine War and the Israel-Palestine conflict have both hurt millions. Civilians on both sides lose, being caught in the crossfire and losing their homes and livelihoods. With many fleeing to refugee camps, these places have become overrun and can barely support their current population. However, more refugees will only keep coming.

Air Pollution

Air pollution causes 4-7 million to die each year, and 9 out of 10 people breathe air that contains high levels of pollutants. Unfortunately, as air pollution continues to be exacerbated due to inadequate policies, common industrial processes, and dust storms, more people will continue to suffer from health issues like heart problems and respiratory diseases, which can lead to death.

Extreme Weather

With climate change and global warming comes extreme weather events like hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods. As Earth’s warming surface creates the perfect conditions for these storms to develop, both animals and people are severely negatively impacted, leading to destroyed homes and ecosystems along with countless avoidable deaths.

We strive to provide 100% accurate, unbiased information about world issues to best educate our community.
